Terry Knickerbocker Studio (TKS) is a two year acting conservatory training program focused on the Meisner technique. It is led by Terry Knickerbocker, a direct student of Bill Esper, who taught at the Esper Studio for 25 years, as well as multiple decades teaching acting at NYU Tisch. As well as running the conservatory, Terry is the long time acting coach of Sam Rockwell, as well as Daniel Craig, Jurnee Smollett, Natasha Lyonne, Austin Butler, Boyd Hollbrook, Chris Messina, and many more.

I began working with Terry in fall of 2024, deepening my training with Meisner, and specifically character work. Terry’s professional insight has been invaluable to creating rich, alive work. Since working with him my tools have gotten sharper each day, working to further develop a craft based around truthful, specific and creative choices.

In my first semester of working with Terry, I was highlighted a ‘Student of the Season’, honoring the passion, commitment and drive that the studio is based upon.
